| For more
than 30 years I have
explored my passion for fibres, during which time I have written
several books about
felt, paper and silk paper. I lecture and teach workshops regularly and take part in exhibitions all over the world. I have undertaken study-trips to the USA and Japan to learn paper making, along with journeys to Georgia (Russia), Turkey, Mongolia and Turkmenistan to study with ‘living treasures’ of the felting world. The meaning of felt for Community Art is an on-going interest as I perceive felts as a medium for meeting and binding both fibres – and people. |
For me the new is also based on, and
inspired by the old. In recent years I have researched the interaction between different art disciplines: drawing, painting, felt making, working with felt, paper making, working with paper, tai-chi and sacred dance. During 2001 I gained a Masters Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy from the European Graduate School in Saas Fee, Switzerland. The thesis I wrote was called The Felt Sense. It is about sensitizing and to use our intuition (felt sense) individually as well as being part of a Community Art Process. |
